Port Automation: Modeling and Control of Container Cranes
نویسندگان
چکیده
The container crane is a key machine in ports. Over the past 15 years, modeling and control of quay cranes for automating ports has been the main research issue. In this paper, crane models and control methodologies appeared in the literature are reviewed. A generalized formulation of the most widely used crane model is introduced. Various control techniques are briefly discussed. In conclusion, an amenable control strategy as well as a plausible model is recommended.

Advances in Container Cranes Automation
This paper summarizes the most important advances of the used crane control technology in perspective of automatic operation of container cranes. Faster and more productive container cranes demands highly efficient yard system. Storage capacity is the limitation for most terminals today; automatic operation offers optimum stacking density and peak capacity equivalent for continuous manning of e...
متن کاملSimulation Modeling and Analysis of Complex Port Operations with Multimodal Transportation
World trade has been increasing dramatically in the past two decades, and as a result containers exchange has grown significantly. Accordingly, container terminals are expanding to meet this increase and new container ports have opened. Ports with one or more container terminals are considered complex systems in which many resources, entities and transporters interact to achieve the objective o...
متن کاملYard crane scheduling in port container terminals using genetic algorithm
Yard crane is an important resource in container terminals. Efficient utilization of the yard crane significantly improves the productivity and the profitability of the container terminal. This paper presents a mixed integer programming model for the yard crane scheduling problem with non- interference constraint that is NPHARD in nature. In other words, one of the most important constraints in...
متن کاملVehicle Dispatching at Seaport Container Terminals using Evolutionary Algorithms
In the last four decades the container, as an essential part of a unit-load-concept, has scored a great success in international sea freight transportation. With increasing containerization the number of seaport container terminals and competition has increased considerably. One of the success factors of a terminal is related to the time in port for container vessels and the transshipment rates...
متن کاملDistributed Agent Architecture for Port Automation
In the near future, container ports will no longer be able to expand into the surrounding land and will thus be unable to meet the storage requirements due to the boom in world trade. A solution to this problem is to increase the container throughput of the port by reducing the amount of time necessary to load and unload a ship. This paper presents distributed agent architecture to achieve this...
